Educating for the Future (IBM Mentor)
Changing technologies and ways of doing business require students with new and different skills. The rapid change of technology creates the possibilitay of a shortfall between the skills required by business and the skills provided by schools. “What is the future of information technology in the workplace, with particular regard to education?" This project utilized survey data from IBM with over 4000 IT professional respondents identifying the technology skills most needed in business today and compared those skills with a qualitative examination of the top 20 business school curricula. A potentially growing gap between the skills needed and the skills being taught is identified.
