Author: Sam Miller

Each semester, the undergraduate Foresight in Business & Society course ends with an event intended to showcase the student projects and offer industry perspective on foresight in business.  On December 8th, Shauna Bassett, Director of Market Analysis for The Boeing Company’s Commercial Airlines division, gave the keynote presentation to an audience of over 400 students.  Her presentation highlighted Boeing’s approach to assessing future change in an industry driven not just by technology, but also sometimes turbulent geopolitical and economic forces around the world.  Boeing is a key partner for the Mendoza Foresight program and provided executive mentors to student teams exploring the future of drones in commerce over the next ten years.

Foresight in Business and Society is a required course for all Mendoza Juniors, providing an opportunity to sharpen research skills and develop a forward-looking mindset for over 700 students per year. This semester, 82 teams pursued deep dive assessments into the future of a wide range of topics including artificial intelligence, autonomous vehicles, blockchain currencies, next generation energy, the business of water, and more.
